Junk Removal Estimate Follow-Up Emails That Bring Quiet Customers Back
You sent the estimate. The customer said “thanks, I'll look at it.” Then nothing. Most junk removal owners have a pile of open quotes like this, and most of them never get chased, because the day is full of jobs and there is no time to call back everyone who went quiet. Follow-up emails do the chasing for you.
Why Quotes Go Quiet
Templates, covered in Junk Removal Estimate Templates for the Jobs You Quote Every Week, make it fast to send an estimate. Follow-ups make sure the estimate actually gets an answer.
A quiet customer has not usually said no. More often:
- They got busy and forgot.
- They needed to check with someone else in the house.
- They were waiting until the weekend to decide.
- They meant to clear out a few things first and never got to it.
- They got another quote and are comparing.
In all of those cases, a friendly reminder at the right time can be the thing that turns the quote into a job.
Follow-Ups in JunkBossPro
JunkBossPro sends estimate follow-up emails for quotes that have not been approved. The customer gets a reminder with the estimate still one click away, so approving it online is as easy as it was the day you sent it. You do not have to keep a list of open quotes on a notepad or remember who you sent what.
Once the customer approves, the estimate becomes the scheduled job, and the follow-ups have done their job.
What a Good Follow-Up Says
Short and helpful beats long and pushy. A good junk removal follow-up:
- Reminds them what it was for. “Your estimate for the garage cleanout” is clearer than “your quote.”
- Makes approving easy. The link to the estimate should be right there.
- Offers help. “Questions about the price or what's included? Just reply or text us.”
- Mentions timing. “We have openings later this week” is honest and useful.
- Stays polite. No pressure, no fake deadlines.
Something like: “Hi Pat, just checking in on the estimate we sent for clearing out the garage. You can approve it online with the link below, and we'll get you on the schedule. If anything has changed, reply and we'll update it.”
Timing
Junk removal decisions are usually quick. Someone who wants the couch gone this month will decide in days, not weeks. A first follow-up a couple of days after the estimate catches most people. A second one about a week later catches the ones who got distracted. Past that, the job has often been done by someone else, or the customer has decided to wait.
Big jobs like estate cleanouts and hoarding cleanouts can take longer, because several family members may be involved. Give those a little more room and keep the tone especially gentle.
Answer Questions Fast
A follow-up often brings a reply instead of an approval. “Does that include the shelves?” “What if it's more than half a truck?” “Can you come Saturday?” Those are buying questions. Answer them quickly, by email or with two-way texting from the office.
If a question comes up often, it is a sign your estimate wording could be clearer. Add the answer to the description on that service or template so the next customer does not have to ask. More on that in Writing a Junk Removal Estimate Customers Understand: What Is Included and What Is Not.
When the Job Has Changed
Sometimes the reply is “I already got rid of the fridge, but the rest is still there.” Update the estimate and send it again. A quick, updated quote shows you were paying attention, and the customer can approve the new version online.
If the customer now has more stuff, the same applies. Ask for a fresh photo by text or email, adjust the load size, and send the revised estimate.
Follow Up by Text When It Fits
Email is a good default for estimate follow-ups, but some customers live in their text messages. If a customer first reached you by text, a short personal text from the office through two-way texting can work well alongside the email: “Hi, just making sure you got the estimate for the couch and dresser. Any questions?” Keep it to one message and keep it friendly.
Whatever the channel, the goal is the same. Make it easy for the customer to say yes, ask a question or tell you the plans have changed.
Keep the Pipeline Honest
Follow-ups also give you a clearer view of your open quotes. Approved ones become jobs. Customers who reply with a firm “no thanks” can be closed out. What is left is a short list of real maybes. That is far easier to work with than a long thread of texts you are never sure about.
